2. The leg from Helenenberg to Echternach ( 20 km )

From Helenenberg we follow the road to Eisenach. After ca. 500 m we turn to the right and cross the forest. On the edge of the forest we follow the route to the left to Eisenach. From Eisenach we take the hiking trail No. 31 along the right side of the brook Lammbach (on the left side you see a stone pit). After the field we take the No. 30 steep down into the valley (alternatively the No. 31 via Auf Mühlenbach and Höhjunk tacross the brook Weilerbach following the forest till the campground Mimstal). We follow the No. 30 to the city limit of Minden continue to  Irreler Mühle, then follow the river of Nims till the campground Nimstal.

 

At the campground we cross the B 257 and follow the road up the mountain to the Katzenkopf.  From the Katzenkopf we follow the No. 17 to the parking place Irreler Wasserfälle. We cross the road and reach the waterfalls. There starts the hiking trail A via the waterfalls towards the visitors centre, Teufelsschlucht and the Liborius chapel. (Alternatively the No. 15 below the cliff path – less exhausting). Underneath from Ferschweiler we cross the road and follow the No. 15 to the Liborius chapel. Shortly before the chapel the hiking trail No. 1 becomes very steep; it directly leads to Echternacherbrück. We cross the river Sauer and reach Echternach.
